Overview for Child Sponsorship
We Go To Where the Children Are Instead of only reaching out to children who can come to us, we actually go to where the children are conducting our programs where they live, whether in a remote village or the most dangerous ghetto. In most of these areas, we discover that the innocent children growing up there often face some of the most impoverished, dangerous or abusive conditions.
The Plight of Hurting ChildrenFrom the black markets of Thailand where children are sold into sexual slavery, to the violent inner city streets of New York City, to the garbage dumps and cemeteries of the Philippines where children live among remains carelessly scattered on the ground and have to scavenge for food, children need our help.
Won-By-One Child Sponsorship ProgramThis is why the Won-By-One child sponsorship program was developed. It is now connecting needy children with Christian sponsors from all over the world.
For only $23 per month, Won-By-One sponsors are able to help us reach these children. Their monthly giving enables us to go into their communities and establish or expand our Sunday School programs for children living in these areas. It also enables us to travel to the home of every child once per week to check on his or her progress and living conditions and to address the needs we find there, such as lack of food.
Won-By-One sponsors are not only able to support our programs in general, but are able to build lasting relationships with their sponsored child. They can support their sponsored child through letters of encouragement, gifts for birthdays or Christmas, or through the meeting of needs for food, clothing, school supplies, etc. Each sponsor receives a photo and information about his sponsored child and is able to converse with his child’s worker about his needs and progress. The child sponsorship program is currently available in New York City, the Philippines and South Africa.
