World's Largest Sidewalk Sunday School

To reach young people who live too far to attend Metro Ministries Sunday School, we created Sidewalk Sunday School, a mobile ministry. Portable stages rigged onto customized trucks drive to all areas of New York City, ministering to children in the neighborhoods where they live.
Sidewalk Sunday School is held five days a week at more than 200 sites throughout New York City. We offer this ministry right after school each day, which is a critical time for juveniles. We engage them with fun and games and with a positive gospel message that encourages them to stay in school, to stay away from gangs and crime and to dream big.
We are currently reaching more than 22,000 children each week throughout New York City with this program. In addition, every child receives a personal home visit from one of our staff or volunteers each week. This enables us to mentor and build relationships with the child and his family, while identifying physical needs facing needy families and connecting them with community resources.
Metro Ministries also conducts Sunday School programs in the Philippines, Romania, and South Africa where an additional 20,000 children are reached each week. Worldwide, we have more than 42,000 children in Sunday School programs each week, and our model is being duplicated by organizations in cities around the world.
Help us reach out to these children and keep our Sidewalk Sunday School going strong or find out how you can learn to do your own Sidewalk Sunday School.
